Rosslare Europort, a critical maritime gateway, commissioned Facility Flooring (in partnership with John Paul Construction) to implement our impact protection systems in its large-scale facility to improve safety in its operational zones. Heavy machinery, vehicle traffic, and pedestrian movement in the port required durable impact protection to safeguard both people and equipment.

Impact Protection Installation at Rosslare Europort

Project Overview

In Stage 1 of the installation, Polybar’s impact protection systems were deployed across key areas of Rosslare Europort. The installation included a combination of:

These systems were selected for their ability to withstand frequent impacts, protect machinery and structural elements, and reduce damage-related maintenance.

Challenges Addressed

Rosslare Europort faced multiple safety and operational challenges that needed to be addressed. High-traffic zones were frequently exposed to forklifts, trucks, and other heavy vehicles, increasing the risk of collisions.

Additionally, there was a need to prevent damage to facility infrastructure, such as walls, corners, and posts, which could result in costly repairs or operational downtime. Employee safety was also a priority, particularly in areas where personnel and vehicles shared space.

This large-scale facility required durable solutions that could withstand harsh environmental conditions, including exposure to weather, salt, and heavy use, while requiring minimal maintenance.

Our Impact Protection Solutions

Polybar Group worked closely with Facility Flooring to carry out the installation of our impact protection systems at Rosslare Europort. Together, we selected the appropriate types of barriers and guardrails to match the layout and risk profile of each zone, ensuring maximum safety and protection.

The Polybar barriers and guardrails were strategically positioned along vehicle routes and at critical impact points, such as corners and tight turns, to prevent collisions and reduce damage. The installation utilised durable materials capable of absorbing impacts and recovering without sustaining damage. Polybar’s systems are engineered with resilient synthetic polymer technology, making them impact-resistant, flexible, and capable of withstanding the harsh port environment. Our impact product systems are built to last and require minimal maintenance, essential for the busy operations of Rosslare Europort.

Our Results

  1. Reduced physical damage to critical infrastructure and machinery from collision impacts.

  2. Improved safety for personnel by clearly defining protected zones and barriers.

  3. Lower maintenance costs as Polybar impact protection systems resist damage and need minimal repairs.

  4. Better facility resilience, meaning operations are less likely to be disrupted by repairs.

  5. Positive feedback from Facility Flooring and John Paul Construction on the quality, durability, and professionalism of the installation.

Next Steps

Phase 1 of the project is now complete. Subsequent stages will build on this foundation to extend protection further across the site. Polybar and Facility Flooring will continue to monitor performance and support new installations, ensuring ongoing safety and protection.
